Doing Business on the Internet
If you are considering starting a internet business you’ve probably noticed that there is little clear information about the choices you have and is very dispersed. After reading this article you will have a better idea of the choices you have if you are interested in Internet businesses.
By the way, this article was born because a reader recently told me he wanted to start doing business on the internet and asked me what were the options I had. The answer, I decided to share the information I gave on the site for everyone’s benefit. Thanks Carlos!
Here we go …
The first thing I explain is that like in the real world in virtual business world can be clearly separated as they sell a product or a service. First explore the options you have to sell products online.
Products
Physical Products – The most obvious option is to sell products through an online store. It can be your own tent or platforms like DeRemate.com, eBay.com, etc. You can get the products to wholesalers, selling your own products (inventions, arts and crafts.) Or manufacture a product designed by someone else (who would pay a percentage of the sale for the right to sell his creation).
Physical prodcutos (no inventory) – There is a special case of the sale of physical products has become popular: Drop-Shipping. Is basically that instead of purchasing a product inventory in advance (at the risk of not selling them) can make your purchase orders to the distributor until the moment you make the sale. The distributor is responsible to send the form certified product to your customer. Clearly, this model eliminates the risk of inventory and gives you a positive cash flow throughout the operation (first cobras, then pay).
Information – Other business involves products are called “Information Products” or “Info-Products.” Basically what you do is create a way to provide useful information to your customers. They can be online seminars, videos, digital books, etc.. The greatest benefit of such products is that they are created once and then sold several times with minimal reproduction costs. The primary basis for creating these products is to fill a real need for education on your clients.
Commission Sales – Finally, another way of doing business online is through commission sales. In short seller is like working for a company. You build a Web site where you sell a product or service from someone else and receive a commission for each sale that is made through your site. Obviously, I avoid work to create or find the product you sell, but otherwise the gains will be reduced to a commission.
